Elvis & the Sugar Bees will bring Cajun, Zydeco, Swamp 'n' Roll from the bayous of Staffordshire to the fenland drains of Cambridgeshire via our Saturday afternoon concert. Having played in festivals all over Europe & the States, they promise to bring infectious good fun to Ely.
Elvis Fontenot and the Sugar Bees - Cajun, Zydeco, Swamp 'n' Roll from the bayous of Staffordshire. Formed in 1993 in Stoke-on-Trent, the band has evolved to become the premier European swamp 'n' roll outfit that it is today. The line-up is Nick Barber aka Elvis Fontenot (accordion, vocals, frottoir), Paul Asher (accordion, fiddle, mandolin), Craig Beverley (lead guitar, vocals), Stuart Duthie (bass, harmonica, vocals) & Chris Plimbley (drums).
The band has played at festivals all over Europe & the States and in 2006 and 2009 were crowned 'European Zydeco band of the Year' and Nick won European Rub-board player of the year.
