Breabach

Breabach, Celtic Connections

Breabach will bring celtic verve & charisma to the Saturday night concert in Marquee 2 with double bagpipes, flute, fiddle, double bass, guitar & step-dance. Recent line-up changes to this Scottish 5-piece has given the band new energy & edge. Their new album Breabach Bann is due out in March.

One of the most celebrated and successful Scottish folk bands of recent times, Breabach command the stage with flare, charisma and a sound that is as expansive as it is distinct. Powered by double bagpipes, flute and fiddle, this uncompromising force is further fueled by the tight groove of double bass, guitar and step-dance. A repertoire that effortlessly fuses the traditional and contemporary underlines their commitment and passion for their musical heritage but also displays a willingness to explore and challenge boundaries.

Recent line-up changes have given the band a new edge, energy & focus. And it is little wonder that Breabach received nominations under the 'Best Group' at both the 2011 BBC Radio 2  Folk Awards and the Scots Trad Music Awards. The current line-up comprises Calum MacCrimmon, Megan Henderson, Ewan Robertson, James Duncan Mackenzie and James Lindsay.

Dynamic, fun and extremely talented, Breabach have found yet another gear and continue on their trajectory to the very top of the trad and roots music scene.
